More than a dozen more lawsuits filed against Sean "Diddy" Combs.
More than a dozen more people have filed lawsuits against Sean "Diddy" Combs. The new lawsuits are additions to the previous lawsuits from 120 accusers filed against the Hip-hop rapper, who is presently in federal custody awaiting trial on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
The latest charges include one from a man who alleged that the music mogul asked him to unclothe at a party in New York in 1998 when the victim was 16 years old.
Following a series of civil suits alleging sexual assault and physical violence, some going back to the 1990s, the 54-year-old Mr Combs, rapper and music producer and owner of the music label Bad Boy Records, was arrested on Monday, 16 September, in a New York hotel.
The law enforcement officials have accused him of "creating a criminal enterprise" in which he "abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfil his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct".
Federal prosecutors alleged that Combs used drugs, violence and the power of his status to "lure female victims" into extended sex acts called "Freak Offs".
The law enforcement officials equally revealed they had uncovered firearms, ammunition and more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant during raids on Combs's homes in Miami and Los Angeles in March.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, born in Harlem, denied criminal wrongdoing. His lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, told reporters that Combs was a "fighter" who was "not afraid of the charges"."
Sean "Diddy" Combs's arrest has sent a severe shockwave throughout the Hollywood industry. Many celebrities have quickly deleted their messages and photos on social media to disassociate themselves from the highly influential owner of Bad Boy music, who had cultivated his image as untouchable.
Unlike the previous allegations against the Hip-hop artist, the whole "Diddy narrative" started to take a serious tone after his former girlfriend Casandra "Cassie" Ventura filed a lawsuit against him in November last year, alleging that he "trapped" her for over a decade in a "cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking".
Sean Combs quickly denied the accusation but later settled out of court with Ms Ventura, a musician and model. The case soon escalated after CNN showed a video of Combs assaulting Ms Ventura in 2016, which seems to corroborate her lawsuit. With the damaging video footage in the public domain, Combs quickly took to social media, accepted his conduct, and apologised for his action, which he termed "disgusted".
"My behaviour on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions," Combs added.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, a federal jail notorious for its violence and poor inmate care, seems to have fallen from grass to grace.
The judge has twice denied Comb's requests to be released on a 50-million-dollar bail.
Many believe more lawsuits are imminent, with the current accusers suing Mr Combs.
His case
will go to trial in May 2025.
If
convicted, Sean "Diddy" Combs could spend between 15 years to life in
prison. That is not the kind of life the billionaire, the self-acclaimed
"bad boy for life" wants to live.
