Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is sad that he will be out of action for four weeks after he suffered a rib fracture, reports.

The Elche goalkeeper will therefore not take part in the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against South Africa on November 17 and the friendly against Uganda billed for Asaba, Delta State.

The on-loan Deportivo La Coruna keeper was in action for Elche when they lost 5-1 Cadiz in Sunday’s Segunda fixture.

His club thereafter confirmed that he suffered a serious injury during the game and had to be sent to the clinic but discharged the same day.

Elche tweeted: “Francis Uzoho has suffered a heavy concussion today and has been transferred to the San Rafael clinic.

“After the tests performed no bone injury has been appreciated and has been discharged. Additional tests will be held tomorrow in Elche.”

And then on Monday, it was added that Uzoho would be spending four weeks on the sidelines after suffering a rib fracture.

Uzoho then expressed his disappointment via Twitter on Monday.

He wrote, “Injury is part of the game, definitely not the best timing but there are things beyond us.

“So sad I won’t be there for my teammates for the next four weeks they’re more than capable to get the job done. Coming back a beast. In Christ alone!”
